The members of the council were amazed when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, for they could see that they were ordinary men with no special training in the Scriptures. They also recognized them as men who had been with Jesus. (Acts of the Apostles 4:13 NLT)
Leaders were amazed at the boldness of ordinary untrained people who had been with Jesus.
Something happens when we follow Jesus, walk with him, learn from him, spend time with him. We are transformed. In our thinking, our attitudes, our priorities, our behavior. Physically we look the same. But inwardly we are renewed in a way that is almost indescribable. Often we can’t articulate it fully. But we feel it. We know it. It’s the Holy Spirit at work in us. When we trust him and begin following him…living more and more by faith towards those around us…the ordinary become extra-ordinary. And their lives caused people around them to recognize the source.
Time spent with Jesus is time well spent; an investment that transcends and transforms life. To be with Jesus, the King of Kings, is a privilege that cannot be taken away – ever, by any means. Walk with him daily while you still have days to walk.
