absurd becomes assured

…let us draw near to God… (Hebrews 10:22a NLT)

Apart from Jesus, it’s rather wishful thinking.  An impossibility on every level.  How in the world do you draw near to God, the creator of everything?  Without Jesus, we have no context for this?  No understanding of what it looks like?  No examples of how to actually do this?
Yet, in Jesus we see how He rested in the Lord amidst a great storm.  He pulled away to spend time praying and seeking God the Father.  He raised the boys simple offering of fish and bread to the Father and gave Him thanks.  He wrestled with the Fathers will in a garden, pleading for another way but choosing to obey.  In Christ, we learn that power and authority come through prayer and dependance upon God.  We learn so much about drawing near to God through Jesus living example.  Even more when we view His entire life; that in Jesus we see God draw near to us.  Live for us.  Die for us.  Rise for us.  And invite us in.
Drawing near to God is absurd apart from Jesus.   Which is why the entire context in which that statement is found, in Hebrews 10:19-25 is so powerful.  The absurd becomes the assured in Jesus.  We can draw near to God…because of all Jesus has done.
